Lawrence B. Schmitt, 93, of Brownsville, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2016. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Lawrence and Elizabeth (Sackrider) Schmitt on January 24, 1923. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years, Katherine Graham Schmitt and his next wife of 13 years, Mary Alberta Beard Schmitt.

Larry is survived by step-sons, David Brubaker of Alaska and Stephen Brubaker of Iowa and many other friends and family members who will miss him deeply.

Larry retired from LaSalle Steel Company in Chicago, Illinois where he was a research engineer. He tested the tensile strength of steel. He was a graduate of the Bradley University engineering program. He worked with Dr. Percy Bridgeman of MIT, who received a Nobel prize for his work in high pressure physics.

Larry loved Katherine deeply and had a wonderful life with her. He also was fortunate enough to meet his soul mate, Alberta, on a cruise who made the 13 years they had together the best years of his life.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Larry's caregivers, Norma Zavala and Linda Gonzales in Brownsville, Texas. The family appreciates the dedication and love they showed Larry through the years.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery's chapel, 6440 S. High St., Lockbourne, Ohio.
