John William Ekdahl, age 94 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 13, 2017. He was born on May 23, 1922 in Baraga, MI to the late Henry and Anna Ekdahl. John was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in various units of the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn "Elvi"; daughter, Margaret "Margo"; son, Steve; granddaughter, Loretta "Lori"; brothers, Walfred, Edwin, Arthur, Edward, Eino, Paul, Carl, Frederick and sisters, Martha, Ellen, Elsie. John is survived by, son-in-law, Howard LaPointe; grandchildren, Nicolas LaPointe and Sarah (Jeremy) Wolfe; great-grandchildren, Haley, Hannah, Dylan, Grant and many nieces and nephews.

Family will hold the graveside service at a later date.
