Gloria Helen Poling (nee Poropatt), passed away at home on the morning of April 12, 2017. Born on April 19, 1931, in Jere, WV, to the late Matt and Elena Poropatt, Gloria was a proud first-generation Slovenian.

Predeceased by her sister Rose Pavone and brothers William and Frank Poropatt. Survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Poling; daughter and son-in-law Karen Poling and Brad Evans; and treasured grandsons, Braden and Dylan.

Gloria and Bob married on January 20, 1962, in North Tonawanda, NY, later moving to Greenwood, IN, and then to Columbus in 1979.

Gloria was a member of St. Elizabeth Parish. Gloria enjoyed cooking and time with her family. Gloria’s heart could not give any longer, but her spirit continues to love deeply.

Family will be receiving friends on Monday, April 17, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, 6077 Sharon Woods Boulevard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, Tuesday, April 18, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service and luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gloria’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Boys’ Town, 200 Flanagan Blvd, Boys Town, NE 68010, would be appreciated.
