Nancy Cleverley Kocsis, 85, of Hilliard, Ohio, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15 at Dublin Methodist Hospital after a brief illness. Nancy was born on July 20, 1931 in Bronxville, New York, daughter of the late Ernest L. Cleverley and Olive (Lyall) Cleverley.

Nancy’s life journey began in Bronxville, New York, where she graduated from New Rochelle High School and later started her working career in New York City at American Tobacco. She met her future husband, Oliver, through his sister, who was also Nancy’s friend in high school. Oliver and Nancy later married, making their home in Levittown, New York. Shortly thereafter, they started a family with the addition of two daughters, Beverly and Elizabeth. Nancy and Oliver continued on their journey, with a work transfer to West Simsbury, Connecticut, which turned out to be the couple’s favorite residence. In West Simsbury, over the next 30 years, Nancy and Oliver built lasting memories for their family. After the passing of her husband, Nancy moved to Grove City to be with her Ohio family, before ending her journey at Hilliard Assisted Living & Memory Care.

Nancy and Oliver loved to travel, especially cruises with excursions to the Pyramids in Egypt, Budapest, Hungary, Alaska, and the Panama Canal. Nancy was known for having a devoted love of animal welfare, including a fair number of her own pets. Her last adoption was “Tilly” the cat, whom she rescued and provided a loving home. Nancy had a passion for reading, and could get lost for hours with books, newspapers and magazines. She donated many books to libraries and friends. Nancy loved fresh cut flowers and would change out arrangements weekly, an event noticed by all. And finally, she had a great love of chocolate. Her family would enjoy the fruits of her passion, except for the secret stash she kept for herself.

Nancy is survived by Beverly and Brian Hamborg of Grove City, OH; Elizabeth and Jack Catherwood of Orange County, CA. She was especially proud of her five grandchildren, Kyle (Crystal) and Aaron Hamborg, Elizabeth (Kevin) Keane, Dana (Jim) Straw and John (Victoria) Catherwood as well as her three great-grandchildren, Mikaela and Brooklyn Hamborg and Alyssa Keane.

A special thank you to the staff of Hilliard Assisted Living & Memory Care and the nurses and staff at Dublin Methodist Hospital for their kindness and compassion.

Calling hours have been arranged at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017. A memorial service will immediately follow.
