Betty was born to the late Bennie and Lucille Grace on July 30, 1948.
She departed this life suddenly on Monday morning, May 22, 2017 of a massive heart attack.
Betty attended the Columbus Public School System at the following schools, Felton and East Gate Elementary, Franklin Junior and East High School where she graduated in the class of 1966.
Betty was married to Nelson Saunders Porter and to this union was born two sons, Nelson Kenneth and Joseph Nelson Porter. Betty has three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Betty was employed and retired from the R.G. Barry Corporation with over 30 years of service as a Designer and Master Pattern Maker. Betty joined the Love Zion Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Rev. Marvin B. Myers at an early age.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Lucille Grace; brother, Kenneth Grace; father and mother-in-law, Patrick and Essie Porter; sister-in-law, Ann Palmer; sister-in-law, Valerie Grace, and brother-in-law, Robert C. Pounds, Sr.
Betty leaves to mourn her Life of Memories, friend for life, Nelson Saunders Porter; two sons, Nelson Kenneth (Dawn) and Joseph Nelson Porter; three grandchildren, Frederick, Seccenne, and Makenna Porter; three great-grandchilden, DeVonte, Enrique, and Lamar Porter; three sisters, Lucy Sheppard, Rev. Ethel Pounds (Orange Park, FL), and Christina Grace; three brothers, Benjamin, Walter, and John Grace; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; special mom, Charlene T. Hairston (Orange Park, FL).
Memorial Service Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Acts of Faith Church, 1209 Cleveland Ave., Columbus, OH 43201 at 12 noon.
