Mary Ellen Wentworth
1947 - 2017

Mary Ellen Wentworth, nee O’Brien, born January 16, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio, was taken home to God on August 11, 2017 following a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Joseph and Mary Katherine (Foley) O’Brien and her sister Kathleen (O’Brien) Brown. Mary is survived by her two daughters Shannon Marie Dauberman and Kerry Ann Meyers-Luikart, Grandchildren Nicholas Edward Anthony Meyers (Mackenzie), Nathaniel Cullen Luikart, Noah Alexander Luikart, Meghann Tierney Luikart and honorary grandson Brandon Milby. Sister Patricia Segura (Mike), brothers James Whitty, Thomas O’Brien (Sue) and John O’Brien.

Mary was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Toledo, Ohio, and later went on to study accounting.
Mary loved to travel and enjoyed many in-state excursions with her daughters as well as trips to Ireland, England and her beloved Nova Scotia. Mary never turned down an opportunity to fish and loved to be out on the water, especially at Manitoulin Island, Ontario Canada, where many family vacations took place.

Mary was an active member of Corpus Christi and St. Ladislaus Churches; Father Nguyen (Winn) will be leading us in prayer. The church visited her regularly to give her communion and also the Anointing of the Sick. Mary greatly looked forward to her visits with Deacon Jerry who became a special friend.

In conclusion, a special thank you from Mary’s children to Scioto Community and Kindred Hospice for the loving care that you provided, and for the staff of caregivers that became friends and grew to family. We will never forget you. Much love to nurse Kwame for sincerely loving our mother and always treating her with dignity and respect.

Services will be held on August 26, 2017 at the Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Chapel at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123. Immediate family may arrive at 11 am and will receive additional family and friends from noon - 2 pm for a viewing. A Catholic service will commence at 2 pm and a private cremation will follow. Flowers are welcome and can be received by the chapel.
