Roy Edward Bailey, 78, of Johnstown, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017.

Roy was born in Gallia County on May 14, 1939 to the late James and Eloise (Hammond) Bailey.

Roy served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1965. He served as Jersey Township Trustee for 28 years.

He was married to Evelyn (Vitale) for 54 years.

Roy will be deeply missed by his wife; children Rebecca (Mike) Brenning, Roy (Beth) Bailey Jr.; grandchildren Blaire (Will), Mackenzie, Anthony, Mallory, Kelly; great-grandchildren Jacob, Sylvia; sisters Barbara Powell, Brenda Bailey, Mary Lou (Rick) Clark, sister-in-law Angie Carfagna and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brothers Paul Dean, Jeff, and niece Barbara Burton.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd. Columbus.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 10am at Church of the Ascension 555 Main St. Johnstown with Father Richard Metzger officiating.

Burial will be at Jersey Township Cemetery, where military rites will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association 1379 Dublin Rd. Columbus, OH 43215.
