Kenneth Lear "Ken" Cover, 69, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Gahanna, Ohio. Ken was born on September 2, 1948 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to Herbert and Pearl (Hummel) Cover .

Ken is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Nicholas D. Cover.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mitzi I. Cover; children, Robert W. Cover (Nanci), Kenneth A. Cover (Kristine) and Yvonne C. Cover; grandchildren, Andrew C. Cline, Alexander R. Cover, Ashley J. Cover (Matt), Jeffrey P. Cover and Riley R. Cover; great-grandson, Phillip A. Cline; siblings, Karen E. Hower, Patricia A. Bordner (Jack), Carol J. Strahosky (Robert), Bradley L. Cover (Alma) and Scott K. Cover (Jean); many nieces and nephews.

Ken honorably served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970 in Vietnam. He received many service awards, including the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. Ken worked for over 30 years at Buckeye Steel Castings as a NDT Manager before retiring. He was an avid fisherman and loved fly fishing on the rivers of Idaho. Ken served as treasurer of the Gahanna Junior League Sports baseball and softball programs for many years.

Ken was a great friend and mentor to his family, neighbors, and work colleagues. He always had good advise and wasn't shy about sharing it. Ken loved hosting gatherings with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4p also at theNewcomer Northeast Chapel.
