In Memory Of
Matthew James Rayner
1986 - 2018

Matthew James Rayner, 32, of Westerville passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2018.

Matt was born in Westerville on January 17, 1986 to Jim and Kathy (Bruny) Rayner.

He was an intelligent, quiet, kind, athletic man who loved his family and cats.

One of Matt’s favorite things was the outdoors. He was a competitive soccer player through high school and enjoyed snowboarding, canoeing, sailing, disc golf, and several other sports. Matt liked to live on the edge and experience the full extent of what his body could do. He also liked to play cards and pool with his friends and was known as an extremely handy man who could fix anything.

On August 7, 2016, Matt married his best friend and love of his life, Merrilee Myers, in Sharon Woods.

Matt and Merrilee enjoyed an annual trip to Cedar Point. His favorite roller coaster however, was one he rode in China at Dinosaur Park while doing animatronics work there for The Scare Factory.

He liked his current job as a Machinist and his coworkers at Mid-Ohio Products.

Matt was very loved and will be deeply missed by his wife, parents, sister Marilyn, brother Luke and his wife Catherine, nephews Jason and Thomas, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents Jane and Ray Bruny and Arlene and Robert Rayner.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) at https://www.nami.org/.
