Green, or eco-friendly funerals are becoming more popular and easier to obtain.
They traditionally include a simple burial of an unembalmed body in a biodegradable
casket.
Some environmentally conscious families who do not wish to use chemicals such as
formaldehyde choose to have their loved one embalmed using non-toxic chemicals instead.
With this choice, they can still have a visitation, allowing friends and family
the opportunity to say a final goodbye.
Green funerals tend to be informal gatherings of friends and family members in a
natural setting.
