William E. Nichols, 82, passed away peacefully at Grant Hospital on May 1, 2013. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Virginia Nichols, brother, Howard and sister, Nancy.

Bill is survived by loving wife of 36 years, JoAnn, step children, Stephen Segal and Tammy Berney, grandchildren, Robert (Brittany) Berney and Amanda Gall, great-grandchildren, Kyliegh, Kayla, Karter Gall, Brooklyn Berney, Michael Curtis, dear friend, Fran Stewart.

Bill had a special love for Golden Retrievers. He is also survived by his golden girl, Scarlett.

Bill was a retired Science teacher of 38 years from Brookhaven High School and an Air Force veteran of 4 years. He was past president of Columbus Science Teachers involved with International Field Studies. A special thank you to Pastor Karen Cook and Crossroads United Methodist Church family for all the love and caring shown during Bill’s illness.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm, Friday, May 3, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, OH.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to ARC 14 (Aid Retarded Children) c/o Roberta Lehman, 1591 Denbigh Drive, Columbus, OH 43220, or Golden Endings Retriever Rescue, c/o Kay Hirsch, 1427 Roxbury Road C.H.E.,Columbus, OH 43212.
