Lewis Neil Hatfield, age 81, of Columbus unexpectedly exchanged the bonds of earth for his heavenly home on Friday, September 27, 2013. He was born January 14, 1932 to the late Raymond and Mabel Hatfield of Fostoria, Ohio. After graduation from Jackson Liberty High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force completing both domestic and international tours of duty and retired from active service in 1972. Affectionately called Mr. Hamilton, he remained employed at Hamilton Local Schools until his untimely death. He was a member of the American Legion and regular attendee at Trinity Assembly of God. Proceeded in death by brothers Charles, Harold, Raymond JR, and sister Patti.

Survived by brothers Leonard (Erma), and Larry (Susie), and sisters Dorothy (Tom) Armstrong, Linda (Doug) Purkey, and Betty Hawk.
Survived by his wife Helen (Baldwin) Hatfield of 58 years; children Neil (Dee) Hatfield, Gary (Jan) Hatfield, Vickie (Mark) Kaho, Terry (Kathie) Hatfield, and Keith Hatfield; six grandchildren who he adored, Andrew Hatfield, Jelena Hatfield, Halley Kaho, Torrie Kaho, David Hatfield, and Nathan Hatfield.

Family will receive friends at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City, OH Friday, October 4, 2013 between 4-8 pm with the funeral service being held at TRINITY ASSEMBLY OF GOD, 1112 Demorest Road, Columbus, OH on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10 am with Pastor Dr. Kenneth Keene officiating. Internment with military honors will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lewis’ memory may be made to either Trinity Assembly of God or the OSU James Cancer Hospital, the James Development Office, 660 Ackerman Road, P.O. Box 183112, Columbus, OH 43218-3112.
