He is survived by his wife, Yvette of 51 years of marriage, daughters, Vanessa Milano (Anthony), Angela McManaway (DJ Daugherty) and son Stephen L. McManaway II (Melissa). Eight grandchildren, Susan, Bobby, Ryan, Christine, Conor, Emma, Zachary and Rebekah.
Steve was a graduate of University High School, Class of ‘65. He attended The Ohio State University, Rio Grande College, University of Maryland in Heidelberg Germany before the completion of his degree in Law Enforcement from Columbus State Community College.
Steve served 4 years in the US Army during the Vietnam era and retired from the Ohio Air National Guard in 1993 after being called to active duty during Desert Storm. Steve was a retiree of the Columbus Police Department and later was employed by the state of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. He was a member of the Valley of Columbus-Scottish Rite, Westgate Masonic Lodge, and Aladdin Shrine Center. Steve’s love in life was his family and greatly enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Monday, September 10, 2018 at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
A funeral service will be held at 11am, Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Burial will follow at Alton Cemetery, Galloway, OH. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to any affiliated military association such as Wounded Warriors or Independence Fund.
