Larry “Jay” Gillispie, 79, passed away peacefully after a long-term battle with ALS on October 19, 2018 at The Mother Angeline McCrory Manor in Columbus, Ohio. Jay was born in Jackson, Ohio to Anna Margaret and William Henry Gillispie on October 26, 1938. Jay was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Margaret Gillispie, sister Margie Ann Smith, infant brother, and wife of 56 years Edith Mae Gillispie.

Jay had a gift for being able to construct or fix anything he set his mind to. He retired from the City of Columbus Division of Water as well as the Carpenters Union where he was known for his quality carpentry work, loyalty and positive attitude.

He is survived by sister Dottie (Rodney) Landrum of Jackson, sister Linda (Mike) Johnson of Waverly, daughter Stephanie (Dan) Davis of Groveport, son Rex (Ronna) Gillispie of Williamsport, daughter Jennifer (Phil) Fullerton of Bridge City Texas, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews

Calling hours for family and friends will be Tuesday October 23, 2018 from 1pm to 3pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City, Ohio 43123 with a brief memorial service at 3pm.
