Emma Elizabeth Kettenring, 89, widow of Jack Carey passed away Friday, March 27 2020 in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born April 18, 1930 in Great Crossing, Kentucky to the late George Albert and Alma Keopke Kettenring.

She was a former employee of the Hazard City Schools and continued to be a companion to elderly people in and around Middlesboro, KY for many years. She also was a preschool Sunday School teacher and a member of the Southern Baptist faith. She was an avid cross stitcher, loved to pass time coloring in adult coloring books, and
played Rook many nights with her family. She often talked about the many trips she shared with her family around Christmas to Gatlinburg, TN and the family reunions she attended every July in Georgetown, KY.

Emma is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Vasilios) Levakis of Columbus, Ohio, her son Jack “Jay”(Micheline) Carey of Middlesboro, Kentucky; grandchildren, Anastasia (Paul Beck) Levakis of Columbus, Ohio, John Levakis of Columbus Ohio, Jaymine Carey of Middlesboro, Kentucky, and Allyson Carey of Middlesboro, Kentucky; sisters, Irene Kettenring of Georgetown, Kentucky, Eunice “Sis” (Earl) Searcy of Frankfort, Kentucky, and her sister-in law Betty Kettenring of Georgetown, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Brenda Carey, her mother-in-law Nadeen Carey and siblings, Barbara Catherine Kettenring, Donald William Kettenring, John Henry Kettenring, James Kettenring, George Kettenring, Frank Kettenring, Clara Mae Harpole, Ernest Leo Kettenring, Alma Noel and her sisters-in-law Effie Kettenring, Marie Kettenring, Shirley Kettenring and brothers-in-law Clyde Noel and Charles Harpole.

The family will have a private service on March 31, 2020 with a memorial service held in Middlesboro, Kentucky later in the summer of 2020. Burial will be in Middlesboro Green Hills Memorial Garden at that time.

Special family Members are Nancy Noel, Sue True, Richard Kettenring, Larry Harpole, Roy Kettenring, George Edward Kettenring, Kelley Ann Bush, Ellen Yates and Lela Kettenring.
