Norman R. "Tom" Hellwig, 95, of Pickerington, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Echo Manor Nursing Home.

He was born April 5, 1925 in Columbus, son of the late Roland and Norma Koebel Hellwig.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Boren; brother, Robert Hellwig; niece, Barbara Boren Meeder and brother-in-law, Roger Boren.

He served in the Army during WWII receiving a Purple Heart and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Obetz.

Tom is survived by his sister-in-law, Arlene Hellwig of Tifton, GA; nephew, Charles (Diane) Boren of Pickerington; nieces, Peggy (David) Smith of Petersburg, IN, Donna Hellwig Rocker of Tifton, GA and Denise (Perry) McKain of Greenville, S.C; great nephews, Troy (Jen) Boren and Tommy Boren; great nieces, Christine (Don) Priest, Becky (Tim) Zook, Stephanie (Eric) Pilkenton and Lisa (Keith) Fuller; six great-great nephews, five great-great nieces and many cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Obetz, 1080 Obetz Road Columbus, Ohio 43207 or Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Drive Exchange Suite 170 Columbus,Ohio 43231.

Memorial Gathering, Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 10am until the time of Memorial Service at 11am at Zion Lutheran Church, 1080 Obetz Rd., Columbus, OH 43207.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Echo Manor for all of the great care they gave to Tom.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel 3393 Broadway Grove City.
