In Memory Of
Ida Mae Cain
1939 - 2020

The beautiful gift of Ida Mae (Stradford) Cain joined this world on October 10, 1939 in Kimball, WV. Alma (Thomas) and James Stradford welcomed their 4th daughter to a blossoming family that would ultimately number 15. Ida was raised in Cleveland, OH, and through numerous moves in life, settled with her family in Central Ohio, calling this home for nearly 5 decades.

Ida loved the Lord with her whole being and served faithfully and sacrificially at Bethel A.M.E Church for over 40 years. She was an active member of the Senior Usher Board, the Pastor’s Aide Society, and the finance committee until illness impacted her ability to serve. Even then she was always humming her favorite gospel songs and praying powerfully in her spirit, always honoring her God.

Ida followed in the footsteps of the Master in feeding the masses. For 28 years, she oversaw the daily meal preparation for 400+ residents through her dietary work at Friendship Village of Columbus.

Ida donned her heavenly garb on Thursday May 21, 2020 after an extended illness. She leaves to honor her legacy her children Earvie, Belinda, and Anita; her grandchildren Christina, Christopher, and Brianna; her great-grandchildren Carys, Jae, Kaliyah, Christian, Alexander, Zachariah, and Zoe – the true lights of her life. She leaves to honor her memory, her siblings Bernice (Charlie) Simpson, Gloria Wolfe, Mattie (Roy) Gladney, Jacqueline Stradford, Alice (Lawrence) Lester, Doris Johnson, Eric (Stephanie) Stradford, and Arlene Stradford; and her best friend of more than 40 years, Laydia Smith. She also leaves to celebrate her life an abundant host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and faithful friends.

We will gather at a future date to honor her memory and celebrate her life in the true spirit of hospitality she embraced. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank or your local foodbank in Ida’s name. This will continue her ministry of graciously feeding the hungry.
