George "Pete" Henderson, age 82 passed away on June 11, 2021. He was born on July 10, 1938 to the late Arthur and Nellie (Hutchinson) Henderson in Huntington, WV. Pete is survived by his children Carrie Henderson, Chattanooga, TN and Garrett (Vicky Thompson) Henderson, Columbus, OH, grandchildren Amanda (Danny) Crofford, Amber Diskey, Autumn Diskey, 7 great grandchildren, Zachary, Kayla, Natalie, Morgan, Brayden, Riley, Carlee Rae; siblings Nancy (Dickie) Fisher, Huntington, WV and Linda Brown, Elizabethtown, KY numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Mary Jane (Garrett) Henderson, partner Sophia Ann Lemaster, grandparents Emmett and Ethel Henderson and Ruby Jessie Riggs.

Pete worked for Marzetti in Columbus maintaining the production equipment, he enjoyed fixing cars and other things and made that his life’s work. He retired from the Navy Reserve and worked in the boiler room of the USS Yorktown while on active duty in the Navy. Pete graduated from Vinson High School in Huntington, WV and worked at Camden Park in Huntington in his teen years before enlisting in the Navy.

Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd., Columbus on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 11:00am until time of service at 12:00pm. Burial will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olive Hill, KY.
