In Memory Of
Joshua Allen Whitley
1988 - 2021

Joshua Allen Whitley, age 33, of Columbus, passed away on July 26, 2021. He was born on April 17, 1988, in Columbus, to Carolyn (Thomas) Pierce and Gary Whitley.

Josh was a unique, spirited and loving young man who never seemed to meet a stranger. Being a father was something that spoke volumes to Josh, and he loved his children beyond measure. He was a true outdoorsmen, finding peace in nature and spent hours hunting, fishing and hiking. Disc Golfing was a favorite hobby of his and he required all of his family members to join in. His smile absolutely lit up a room, and his presence would linger for hours. A wonderful sense of humor, he always made himself a part of the joke. His thoughtfulness and level of empathy will never be forgotten. It is impossible to summarize the essence of Josh in a paragraph; he was so much bigger than that. Words will never do justice in describing the man he was.

In his last days, Josh became a Hero by donating the gift of Life to numerous people in need. Although he is no longer here with us, his legacy will continue to live on in others.

He is survived by his parents; Children, Trenton, Keaton, Braxton and Rowan; siblings, Will Pressnell, Tosha, Gary, Chaz, Chase, and Samantha Whitley; Grandparents, Harry and Sue Thomas, and Wilbur Whitley; Aunts and Uncles, Michael and Kelly Thomas, Terri Crawford, and John Seymour; cousins, Hannah and Sam Thomas, Nick (Kasey) Crawford and Hunter Crawford; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, June Whitley; and his great-grandmother, Lucinda Laferty.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, from 5-7 p.m., at Newcomer SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at 12 noon. Pastor Tim Womack will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Josh’s memory may be made to Lifeline of Ohio, 770 Kinnear Road, Columbus, Ohio 43212.
