She was born in Columbus, OH on April 9, 1954 to the late Raymond Towns and Phyllis (Brinson) Smith. She was a 1973 graduate of East High School.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Phillip and great-grandson Jaden.
Surviving family includes, her loving husband of three years, Jerome Burton; children, Kevin (Felicia), Chiquita (Troy), Mikki, Jerome Jr., Maurice, Denisha, Sheena, Kiara (Eric); twenty-four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry L. (Deborah), Michael Lee, Sheryl, Mary, Debra (Larry); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, extended family and friends.
Sandy was a longstanding member of Higher Ground AAA, she was on the usher board and a part of the nursing ministry.
She was an advocate reader and a member of “Reading With Soul” book club.
She loved making jewelry, enjoyed baking and LOVED to travel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Home Going Celebration immediately following at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, 870 Saint Clair Ave Columbus, OH 43201 (614) 291-5716.
Repass will be at Mt. Gerizim Missionary Baptist Church, 2633 Mock Rd Columbus OH 43219 (614) 475-9712.
