In Memory Of
Barbara Jean Coombs
1944 - 2022

Barbara Jean Coombs departed this life at age 77 surrounded by her family on June 21, 2022 and was once again reunited with the love of her life who passed away last year. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.

Barbara was born in Zaleski, Ohio on November 10, 1944 to George Henry and Frances Elsie (Moody) Burley and spent her childhood in and around Nelsonville, Ohio. On January 25, 1960 she married Ralph E. Conley and they had one son. On October 1, 1974 she married Richard E. Dewey, Sr and raised one son and three stepchildren. Richard passed away in 1988.

During the ensuing years she had a successful career with the State of Ohio where she made many lifelong friends and fulfilled her lifelong dream of owning her own home. She retired in and around 2008. On June 3, 2000 she married the love of her life, Victor R. Coombs, and gained three more stepchildren. She loved all of her stepchildren like they were her own. Family meant the world to her and she loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. They lived a happy life surrounded by numerous friends and of course, their family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, David M Burley and Michael J. Burley (died in infancy); two sisters, Georgia Mansfield and Janice Sue Quinn. She was also preceded in death by her son, Benny Joe Conley and her three husbands.

She leaves behind to mourn her a son, Richard (Cyndi) Dewey; three step-sons, Kenny (Lisa) Dewey, Curt (Nicole) Dewey and Breandan Coombs; three step-daughters, Vicki Dewey, Erin (Rob) Siemer and Molly (Justin Williams) Sarvino; four grandchildren, Cody, Dale and Braeden Dewey and Christina Hensley; four step-grandchildren, Brent Dewey, Haeli and Kendyl Siemer and Alden Coombs; three great-grandchildren, Beau Dewey, Aubrey & Jackie Edmond, as well as many nieces, nephews, special cousins and numerous lifelong friends.

We would like to give special thanks to her grandson, Braeden Dewey for taking such amazing care of her so his parents could continue to work. Also, a special thanks to all the amazing nurses and aides with Echo Hospice. They all took such wonderful care of her in her final days and were an amazing support to the family.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the near future.

Arrangements entrusted to the NEWCOMER SOUTHWEST CHAPEL.
