Edward Paul “Ted” Finan, age 89, died August 7, 2022. He is survived by his wife Joyce and loving children Kevin (Mary Beth) Finan, Karen (Greg) Kaltenbach, Kelley Finan, and Christopher (Jennifer) Finan.

Also left to mourn the world’s best grandpa are his grandchildren Colin Finan (Danae Huff), Dan (Kaitlin) Finan, Beth (Jim) Smail, Matt (Paulina) Kaltenbach, Karah Finan (CJ), and Erin Finan. Ted is also survived by six great grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Wyatt and Leah Finan, Nora and Nate Smail, and Emilie and Elena Kaltenbach.

Ted also leaves behind his special cousins Karen Benear and Glenn (Bina) Bowers, cherished sister-in-law Beverly Hartig, and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents Mary and Charles Finan and eight siblings preceded him in death. Ted was a lifelong resident of Stow and Akron. He spent his entire career with Goodyear in various executive positions. He was also an officer in the Marine Corps Reserves. Upon retirement, Ted volunteered many hours each week delivering meals to seniors and providing clothing to the poor through the Gennesaret Center in Akron.

A devout Catholic, Ted worshiped at Holy Family and Immaculate Heart of Mary parishes. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Akron and Akron University. Dad always said he wanted to see his beloved Browns or Indians win a national championship before he died. Sorry dad, you’ll need to keep rooting from heaven. Hopefully you’ll have some pull.

The family will hold a private funeral service and burial.
