James M. Emmerling "Jim" 48, of Grove City, OH, formerly of Manchester, CT died on January 7, 2016 in an automobile accident.

He was born June 24, 1967 in Manchester, CT to Eleanor and George Emmerling.
Jim lived most of his life in Manchester, although the last 15 months of his life were spent in Grove City with his loving friend Margaret Feike and her children. This last year was some of the happiest times Jim experienced where he finally found his soul mate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, but is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth (Gary Armentrout) O'Donnell of Vernon , CT and Susan (Bob Ingalls) Emmerling of Mt Vernon, ME, brother, Paul (Jackie) Emmerling,Sr., and nephew Paul Jr. of East Haddam, CT.

Jim attended Manchester schools and graduated from Manchester Community College as Valedictorian.

Jim's adult life was significantly impacted by mental illness. He worked until his last days to deal with this challenge, which ended in his suicide.

Jim spent countless hours at Mary Cheney Library in Manchester. His love of philosophy, books and ideas and the ability to write are how his family will always remember him. Jim was connected to a larger world of writer's and friends through www.oursalon.ning.com.

A private remembrance was held in Grove City.
