1941 - 2017

David William Purdy, 76, passed away Dec. 4, 2017.

He was preceded in death by father, Robert M. Purdy; wife, Della Purdy; and brother, Robert Bruce Purdy.

Survived by sons, Michael and Miles Purdy; mother, Jean A. Purdy; siblings, Phyllis (Mick) Gourley, Wayne and Barry Dean Purdy.

Dave graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and The Ohio State University School of Pharmacy. When he retired, he was one of the owner's of DABCO Pharmacies. After being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease forty years ago, Dave decided to devote the rest of his life to help others learn to cope with this challenge. He was instrumental in creating support groups in central Ohio and was commonly a spokesman to groups of medical professionals researching and treating the disease. A special highlight was orchestrating a solo walk across Ohio to raise awareness and funds.

Visitation Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 from 9:30am until the time of Funeral Service at 10:30am at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Interment to follow at Hopewell Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, OH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave's memory to National Parkinson Foundation Ohio, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr., Ste. 265, Columbus, OH 43231-8610.
