Nelson E. Shineberger
1940 - 2018

Nelson E. Shineberger, 78, passed away on May 19, 2018, from complications with dementia. He was born in Galesburg, IL on February 12, 1940.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Nelson and Inez Linnea (Klinth) Shineberger.

He leaves behind his daughter, Kerry Brooks, grandchildren, Raven Hogan, Devin Brooks, Austin Brooks, Terra Brooks, and great-grandchild, Kaleigh Riley.

Nelson served in the 546th Ordinance Company of the United States Army, stationed in Germany. Upon discharge, he earned a business law degree from Carl Sandburg College. He became a corporate logistics manager for companies such as Pabst Blue Ribbon and Degussa. Nelson was called as an expert witness before Congress in 1997 for the Surface Transportation Board regarding rail services in the western United States. He was also a military (WWII) history buff and enthusiast who loved the outdoors.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, May 25th, 2018 at Kerry's residence. 4155 Checkerberry Ct, Hilliard OH 43026.

Graveside services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, May 26th, 2018 at Foxfield Preserve, Wilmot, OH. The gravesite is in a nature preserve so hiking boots and outdoor clothing will be needed. Meet at the Wilderness Information center at by 1:45. Please let the family know if you will be in attendance.
