In Memory Of
Alice Bennett
1938 - 2015
Alice was born in Scarbro, West Virginia to William and Gracealee (Bowyer) Brabban.
She attended and graduated from Collins High School in Oak Hill. She worked for many years at RobertShaw Controls in Grove City and later retired from Nationwide Insurance Company in Columbus.
Alice touched many hearts and lives and gave freely of herself, her time and her love. She was a "Martha" often working in the background selflessly serving and encouraging others. She made a difference and those who knew her knew they mattered and were important to her. Her strength and character were forged through her faith and trust in the Lord. She led by example and earned the respect and admiration of those she worked with and assisted.
Alice, better known as Mom, will be missed by her children and many others who after meeting and being impacted by the giving of her love and time grafted themselves into her family.
Alice loved the Lord and served Him throughout her life. She was a member of the former Westgate / Water of Life Friends Church, serving in many roles including teaching Sunday School and being a member of the Missionary Circle and later attended the Grove City Church of the Nazarene.
She enjoyed spending time with her husband and family, delighting in her children and grandchildren. A few of her other interests were sending cards, working puzzles, reading, working with her husband in their yard and occasionally attending performances at LaComedia Dinner Theatre.
Alice is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Darryl D. Bennett of Columbus, daughter Robin (Joe) Laskowski of Hilliard, daughter Grace (Lee) Holland of Lancaster, son Clinton (Candace) Burgess of Columbus, daughter Pamela (Ben) Peterman of Columbus, son James Bennett of Columbus, and son Daniel (Peggy) Bennett of Fredericktown; brother James (Barbara) Murdock, Jr. of Fayetteville, West Virginia; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special cousin Peggy (Moe) Marosy; adopted son Reverend Mark Tope; special friends Norma Jean and Kathy; cousins and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Gracealee and step-father James Murdock, Sr; sister and brother-in-law Barbara Ann and Clyde Ervin; and nephew James (Donny) Ervin.
