Robert F. Dyson, 96, passed away January 30, 2016. Robert was born on August 6, 1919 in Steubenville, OH to the late Alice (Fithen) and Frank Dyson.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Helen (Weinman), and his sister, Ruthella Hall.

Survivors include daughter, Marge (Brent) Culver; grandchildren, Bryce (Stephanie) and Kelsey Culver; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob was a proud Army Veteran of WWII where he served with the 11th Armored Division in the Battle of the Bulge. He drove to Alaska in 1947 in the early days of the AL-CAN Highway. Bob retired from Ohio Bell after serving 32 years as a telephone repairman. He formerly served as president of the Steubenville Historical Society and gave numerous presentations about the early days of the city. Bob's many hobbies included: Big Bands and jazz music, hiking, golf, storytelling, poetry, photography, videography, antiques and collectibles, woodworking, and tinkering. Bob could make or repair almost anything.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Inn at Olentangy Trail for the TLC they provided during his last year of life.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Dr. Columbus, OH 43229. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson County Historical Association, (www.jeffcountyhistorical.org).
