Suzanne Hannum Bryan Souder, 69, of Gahanna, Ohio, passed away on April 9, 2018, of glioblastoma brain cancer.
The funeral service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Dublin, Ohio. Pastor Amanda Highben and Pastor John Morris of Prince of Peace will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City, Ohio. Family and friends will be notified personally by family on the date and time of services.
Suzanne was born in Tacoma, Washington on December 20, 1948. She graduated from Saint Francis DeSales High School and later in her career continued to Otterbein University. Although she didn’t graduate Otterbein she was very proud to be one of the top student’s decades older than the normal student. She was even asked to be a member of the top academic Greek Sororities.
Suzanne started her career at THE Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center with an entry level position and worked her way up the corporate ladder to the highest position a non-college graduate can achieve as a medical information manager for Adria Labs / Pharmacia / UpJohn for over 30 years. She was very proud of the long-time friends she acquired through her work, and truly loved them all. Suzanne even met her “Hunny Bunny” thanks to her employer, when he joined the team in 1989. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her 12 grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, whether on the job to Europe or just to have fun with her family in Boston, Augusta and Houston. Her last trip she took was August 2017 to take Sarah and Gracie Bryan to Disney World. She loved every minute of it, just watching them smiling and having fun!
Suzanne married Daniel in 1993 in Las Vegas, NV. They were happily married for 23 years. Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents Roy T. (2010) and Margaret (2015), her husband Daniel (2016), her brother-in-law Charles Pritchett (1996) and her son-in-law Neil Heeren (2011). Suzanne is survived by her children Jason (Jennifer) Bryan of Johnstown, Ohio, Suzanne Heeren of Bolton, Massachusetts, Margaret (Scott) Stephens of League City, Texas; her grandchildren, Wyatt Cornwell, Sarah Bryan, Gracelyn Bryan, Emily Heeren, John Daniel “Jack” Heeren, Kirsten Heeren, Michael Heeren, Kiley Heeren, Aiden Heeren, Hannah (Josh) Orin, Andrew Stephens, Abigail Stephens; her brother-in-law David (Nancy) Souder of Gibsonburg, Ohio, and sister-in-law Suzanne Pritchett of Augusta, Georgia and her aunt Doris Cherry of Dumfries, Scotland; her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends she made along the way.
Suzanne cared dearly for her family and friends and it showed by how many long-time friends she maintained throughout her life. She bent over backwards for everyone she cared about, family or not. One of those friends, Nancy Hutchings, has been such a close friend since they were classmates at just thirteen years old and remained close friends throughout her life. Suzanne was proud to call her the little sister she never had to anyone that asked. She also became great friends with Doris Edwards when she moved into the Dublin area 30some years ago a friendship that remained. Mentioning these two people is important to me because it was the circle of trust in care during Suzie’s battle with cancer. Between Jason, Nancy, Doris and Sam; Suzie put together a team that bonded and was able to provide for her most needed health change. She couldn’t have ask for such great friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The National MS Society or American Cancer Society. As these organizations were very dear to her heart. The family of Suzanne wishes to thank Visiting Angels, Mother Angelina’s McCrory Manor, and Mount Carmel’s Hospice Team for the wonderful help and amazing care that Suzanne received.
