Michael F. Rayo, Sr., died on Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 at his home in Hilliard, Ohio. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 29th, 1955, and was the second of six children. After a 20-year hiatus, he returned to The Ohio State University and completed his B.A. in Psychology. Among his many professions, he built and owned Zuppa Downtown, where he baked bread and made soup. A man of devout faith, he was a vital and active member of his church his entire life, serving in a myriad of leadership positions and volunteering his time and culinary talents. He loved the Beatles, the Buckeyes, woodworking, and watching his garden grow. He was a fixture on the sidelines of his children’s and grandchildren’s various concerts and sporting events. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Mariano and Mary Alice Rayo. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Barbara “Bobbi Jo” Rayo, MD, his siblings Mary Beth (Samuel), Thomas, Margaret (Joseph), Steven (Bonnie), and Christopher, his children Michael, Jr. (Sarah), Bryan (Sarah), Erin, and James, and his grandchildren Asia, Henry, Annalia, Emerson, and Norah. Viewings will be held on Friday, November 16th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Saturday, November 17th from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM at The Church Triumphant, 1001 Vera Pl, Columbus, OH 43204. A funeral service will be held at the church at 4:00 PM, directly after the Saturday viewing. In lieu of flowers, the Rayo family requests that donations be sent to Amps4Ohio, Inc.
