Mary Loretta Turner
1945 - 2019

Mary Loretta Turner was born on December 4, 1945, and on May 17, 2019 at 10:19 pm she entered into God’s perfect hands.

Sister Mary Turner was employed by The Ohio State University for 30 years. She started at the University as a custodian and retired as a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor. Sister Mary Turner was a faithful member of the St. James Biblical Christian Baptist Church; where she served as Director of the Junior Missionary, Willing Workers, Nursing Auxiliary, Inspirational Choir, and Deaconess.
Outside of her many duties at church, Sister Mary Turner loved spending time with her family and friends. She was very active at the Gillie Center where she traveled and participated in many different activities. She actually broke her right hip and arm playing floor hockey!!! Sister Mary Turner was a role model and an inspiration to all she came in contact with. Sister Mary Turner was a wise soul who gave great advice and told you like it was with a smile on her face. She loved watching old westerns, the soaps, the Game Show Network, and sports with her kids and grandkids, especially the Buckeyes….O -H- …….!!!!

Sister Mary Turner is proceeded in death by her parents Mary Jimmie and Willie Buster Story, brother Percy Carl Banks, son-in-law Bishop Emanual Roberts, and granddaughter Amaya Nicole Street. She leaves mourning her three children; Tamula N Roberts, Carmulita R Turner, and Darrell D Kelso (Mechelle). Grandchildren; Darrell II, Emanual II, Alexandria, Elisha, Brianna, Hagan, and Kaden; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, church family, and co-workers.

We will never forget her singing “Walk With Me Lord”, “Real Christians”, and humming “Rough Side of the Mountain.” Her favorite saying is “God’s got you….watch him work!”

Well Done……

Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2019 from 10am to 11am with a funeral service to follow at 11am at St. James Baptist Church 1311 E. Hudson St. Columbus. Burial will be at Blendon Central Cemetery.
