Barbara June Evans-Nichols, 81, went home to meet her Savior Jesus Christ after a brief illness June 9, 2019. She passed away at home with her beloved daughters by her side. Born in Huntington, WV June 23, 1937 to the late Carl and Eva (Berry) Fry. She married her childhood sweetheart Robert Clay (Rice) Evans (a US Air Force Vet) in 1955. Bob and Barb travelled the country while Bob was enlisted in the military and eventually settled in Grove City in the late 60’s. Barbara was a wonderful housewife and mother, as well as, she was very successful with Sarah Coventry Inc. in the 70’s. After Bob’s passing in 1983, she became an integral part of the staff at the Center for New Directions in Columbus; a program for women who had become displaced in life. Barbara retired from Checkfree and worked part time with Visiting Angels up until 2010. She enjoyed musical theater, live entertainment, classic films, travel and garage sales. She loved to laugh and was a people person no doubt. Barbara was ultimately responsible for bringing numerous family and friends to know and accept Jesus. Barbara loved Jesus with all her heart. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Grove City which was her most favorite place in the world to be.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 5 years, Charles Nichols of Columbus who cared for her lovingly and tirelessly during her Alzheimers illness for many years. She is the beloved mother of: Denise Evans Williams of Grove City, Stephan (Josephine) Evans of Isleford Essex, England, UK, Jeffrey Evans (deceased), and PeggySue (Colin) Mowery of Columbus.
She is the adored grandmother and great-grandmother of: Derek (Laurie) Evans of Illinois, Roberta (Steve) Albert of Grove City, Dustin Evans of Columbus, Faye Williams of Grove City, Raiden Robinson of Florida, Izaac Mowery of Columbus; step grandmother of Nicole Russell of Athens. Claire Albert, Elijah Albert, Samuel Lopez; step great-granddaughter Makayla Russell.

Barbara is mourned by dear friends and family who were held close to her heart including: Tammy Blevins who cared for Barbara these last few weeks, Carl and Shirlene Fry, Sharon Russell, Ron and Nadine (Sherry) Smallridge, Terry and Gloria Kellenberger, Dan and Donna Smith, Denise Mowery, Freda Hinkle, Lois Culp, the Whitt Family, Kelvin Nichols and family, many nieces and nephews, and so many more.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Robert Clay Evans, son Jeffrey Clay Evans, father and mother Carl and Eva Fry, brother Cecil Fry, sister Linda Wells, and niece Dorcella (Wells) Ray.

A memorial service followed by lunch will be held at First Baptist Church of Grove City at 3301 Orders Rd., Grove City, Oh, 43123 Friday, June 14, 2019 at 11am. At a later date she will be buried at Sunset Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association www.alz.org.
