In Memory Of
Jeffrey David Hinckley
1953 - 2022

Jeffrey David Hinckley, 68, passed away on January 9, 2022 after a ten year battle with early onset Alzheimer's.

Jeffrey was born on November 18, 1953 in Troy, New York to the late Gene and Doris Hinckley.

He was a loving husband to Theresa, for 37 years, a great dad to his daughters, Sara (Justin) Pearson and Emma (Jarrod) Dane, grandfather to PJ, Violet, Everett and Archer, and brother to Stephen (Dorothy) Hinckley and Kurt (Theresa) Hinckley. Jeffrey is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Scarlett Stoddard and his sister, Karen Jefferson.

He was a news photographer for over thirty years at the Columbus Dispatch, after working at the Miami Herald, the Seattle Times and the Cincinnati Inquirer, to name a few. He saw the unique spirit in everyone and wanted to tell their stories. He believed in truth and the power of journalism to change the world for the better.

He was our hero and inspiration. He treated everyone with respect, and looked out for the vulnerable in every situation. He was kind, thoughtful, patient, a feminist, and never complained (and his wife says that!). He was never afraid of adventure as he sky dived, hiked, or bungee jumped. He took charge in chaos, ran marathons, and loved to cook (his filet mignon was fabulous!). In his quiet and unassuming way, he was always ready with a packed lunch, a helping hand, or a quirky joke. He was one of the good ones and this world won't be the same without him. We won the lottery when he came into our lives. He will be deeply missed because he was deeply loved. Our tears are a small price to pay for the great life we had with Jeff.

In lieu of flowers we would ask that you make a donation in his name to either the Alzheimer's Association or Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43231 on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, with a short service immediately following at 3:30pm. There will be a get together at the house afterwards.

Messages of condolence may be shared with the family at www.NewcomerColumbus.com.
