Sandra Woodruff Fields
1944 - 2022

Sandra (Lee) Woodruff Fields, 77, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 11:57 pm peacefully at home surrounded by family. Sandra was born September 10, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio to John Woodruff and Genevieve Wade (Jones). Her mother remarried to Calvin Wade, Sr., who also served as a supportive, loving father to Sandra and her brothers.

Native to Columbus, Ohio, Sandra was raised in the Baptist church and her family were members of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, where her “spark” for ministry began. Sandra was a Central High School graduate. After graduation, she was employed by Ross Laboratories, now Abbott Laboratories in 1962 then employed by The United States Postal Service in 1969. Sandra met her husband, Gary, in 198l. They were married in 1983 and were inseparable. From their union, they welcomed her daughter, Stephanie Lynn, in 1984. Sandra also extended her love to Gary’s children (Gary Jr., Steven, and Garian) as her own.

In 1993, Sandra graduated from Ohio Dominican University, where she obtained a Paralegal Studies certification. In 1996, Sandra rededicated her life to Christ at New Covenant Believer’s Church and begun to serve in ministry as a Care Ministry partner, co- leader of Beacons of Light Nursing Home ministry while caregiving her aunt, Youth Sunday School teacher, and prayer ministry partner. Sandra graduated from Breakthrough Reconciliation Ministries in 2007 as a Biblical Lay Counselor, alongside her sister. Later in life, Sandra and her husband, Gary, settled their church home at Bethel World Prayer Center in Pataskala, Ohio. Sandra faithfully served, until falling ill, as an intercessory prayer warrior and Biblical Support Counselor, spreading hope, encouragement, and the Word of God to the “brokenhearted”.

Sandra will be deeply missed by her husband of 39 years, Gary John Fields, her daughter (Stephanie Lynn Fields) and stepdaughter (Garian Joan Dickerson) and grandchildren (Gary, Nautica and Damita), her brother Calvin Wade, Jr and nephews (Monte, Derek, and Mario), her brother Woody Woodruff and niece (Jasmine), her sister Mary Grace Lucas and nephews (Jamie, and Paul) as well as several cousins, great nieces, and great nephews. Her kind spirit of advocacy and love for others and family will continue to live on and be remembered by those who held her close.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, John Woodruff and Genevieve Wade, stepfather, Calvin Wade, Sr., brother, Monte R. Wade, and niece Jessie.

Visitation will be Monday, August 8, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd. Columbus. Grave Site Funeral service and burial will be on the same day at 12:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery with Bethel World Prayer Center Pastor Greg Speich officiating. Flowers and memorial contributions may be sent to Newcomer-NE Chapel.
