Vernictta Jackson
1923 - 2023

Vernictta Jackson was called home by the Lord on January 18, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born March 21, 1923 in Kentucky to the proud parents of Katie Pruitt and Pete Jackson. She was the beloved mother of Seabon (June), James, Eddie, Hattie, Rudolph, and Roger Wingfield. She also provided motherly support to Ronnetta Johnson, Mary Edmundson, and Nathaniel (Boo). Vernictta was the wife of the late Guy Jackson, with whom she shared four years of marriage prior to his passing in 1994.

Vernictta was more than just a mother and wife. She was a teacher, a comforter, a warm embrace, and a woman of great wisdom. She was not only a nurturer and caretaker for her family; she was also just as passionate and committed to her patients while serving as a nurse.

Even though Vernictta was known to speak her mind, she always did so with compassion and understanding. She showered her twenty+ grandchildren with love and support when needed and always provided a home to anyone who needed it. Vernictta’s interest included engaging with family and friends, completing crossword puzzles, playing cards, watching her stories on tv, and sharing her love with her pets, especially Skippy and Mack. Vernictta is survived by her 2 sons, Roger and Rudolph, twenty+ grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, Theodore Swan, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4th, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with Funeral Services immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus - OH 43231. Burial will follow in procession to Evergreen Cemetery, Columbus - OH.
