Richard Randall Wade
Born: Columbus, Ohio 12/6/1941
Next Life: Columbus, Ohio 5/15/2023

Richard “Dick” Wade was born December 6, 1941, in Columbus, Ohio. He grew up in Grove City, Ohio and later married Rita and built a home in the country near Harrisburg, Ohio. He passed away May 15, 2023; at age 81.

Dick was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and friend to many. He graduated from Grove City High School in 1959, where he enjoyed playing baseball and going to Beulah Park to pony the horses before school and maybe a small wager after school. After high school, he attended Ohio University and graduated in 1964 with a teaching degree.

Dick’s first job was a school teacher at Fox Elementary near Circleville, Ohio close to the Big Darby where he often went fishing. He then taught at Westfall High School teaching English, History, and Social Studies before leaving to take a night shift supervisor job at General Motors on the west side of Columbus. He spent 28 years at GM in operations management, purchasing, and human resource management. He retired and was home driving our mother crazy for about a month before taking another job as a plant manager for E.G.I. Inc., an automotive OEM supplier, with responsibility for facilities in Greenville, Ohio and Williamstown, Kentucky. He genuinely enjoyed working with people and pushing them to be successful. He always said: “It was all about the numbers “, along with a few other choice words...

Dick was an avid boater, fisherman, hunter, golfer, gardener, coach, and an occasional winemaker and taster... Dick & Rita spent most of their time enjoying their home in the country and at Lake Erie on the weekends. After retirement, they became snowbirds going to their home in Florida in the winter and Ohio in the summers. Of all the roles Dick had, his favorite and most important was patriarch of his family, he cared deeply for his family and extended family.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Randall “Butch” Wade and Margaret “Thomas” Wade of Grove City.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rita (Sorrells) children Kristine (Dave) Cash, Lance (Annie) Wade, and grandchildren Dakota Wade, and Ashley Stone and numerous loved ones and friends.
