Frederica Ruby Esther Wyse (Nee Pratt) was born on the 16th of March 1947 and transitioned peacefully into eternity on the morning of Friday, May 12th in Columbus, Ohio, USA. Frederica was born in Tikonko, Bo District, Sierra Leone, the third daughter of Mr. Daniel Gershon Pratt and Ms. Nyawo Maccavorie.
Frederica attended the Cathedral Girls Primary school and attained her secondary school education at the Annie Walsh Memorial School (AWMS). After completing her secondary school education. Frederica travelled to the UK for her nursing studies at the Dudley Road Hospital, Birmingham and became a State Registered Nurse in 1969. From 1971 to 1973, she worked at the Aberdeen Maternity Hospital as a State Certified Nurse. In 1970, whilst in Aberdeen, she married her beloved husband, the late Akintola Josephus Gustavus Wyse. Their union was blessed with four children, Ayodele (Jackie), Adeyinka, Akintola (Deceased) and Abiola (Bibi).
Upon completion of her nursing studies in the UK, Frederica returned to Sierra Leone and worked respectively as a nurse, matron, midwife at PCMH, FBC University Clinic and at the Department of Applied Sciences (FBC). In 1993, Frederica undertook a Masters in Program Management at the University of Exeter (London). She also worked as a Project Officer in Family Planning (Sierra Leone) and then as a project officer for UNFPA and at UNICEF as a Heath Officer until her retirement in 2009. Frederica eventually migrated to London and later to the US.
Frederica was a virtuous woman with a strong faith in God. She was a church member formerly of the New Life Ministries (Freetown) and until her passing she was an active member of the Blessed Assurance International Bible Church (Ohio). She also belonged to the Krio Descendants Union (KDU Ohio Branch).
She left behind a host of loving relatives and friends. She is survived by her Children: Ayodele Ogunka, Adeyinka Wyse and Abiola Hamoud.
Grandchildren: Adeola Wyse, Florohn Wyse, Amer (Divyne) Hamoud, Chioma Ogunka, Chinwe Ogunka, Abimer Hamoud and AbbyRose Hamoud.
Sons-in-law: George Ogunka and Amer Hamoud.
Sisters: Mrs. Theodora Elliott, Adama, Hawa, Baby
Brother: Bockarie.
Brothers-in-law: Dr Leone Elliott, Mr. Fayomi Wyse, and Mr. Alaba Wyse.
Nieces and Nephews: Baby Joe, Boy Joe (Junior), JJ, Joeness and Joedor Amara Bangali, Linda Musa (Elliot), Leone Elliott, Larry Elliott, Menah and Awadajin Pratt.
Close family friends (at home and abroad) include Mrs. Hawa Conteh, Mrs. Sandra Johnson, Mrs. Margaret Lansana, Mamusu (Alimamy) Bangura, Alex and Agnes Cowan, Pastors Joseph and Florence Seisay and the Blessed Assurance International Bible Church Family. Extended relatives and friends include the Wyse, Amara Bangali, Elliott, Pratt, and Johnson families.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd. Columbus. Funeral services will be Friday May 26, 2023, at 11:00 am with visitation starting an hour prior at 10:00 am at the Calvary Apostolic Church, 2551 W. Schrock Rd, Westerville, OH 43081 with Pastor Julius Michael officiating. Burial will be at Blendon Central Cemetery.
