Adam J. West

Adam "AJ" West, 78 of Lancaster, OH, passed away while being comforted by his family on July 21, 2014 at Fairfield Medical Center.

Adam is survived by the love of his life for 49 years, Marilyn West, son Bill Wood (Sue Bancker), daughter Katy Cottrell (Brad Marcus). He is also survived by granddaughters Dakotah and Savannah Cottrell, grandson Jr. Wood, and the apple of his eye great-granddaughter Haylee Sutphen, all of the Lancaster area.

Adam was in the United States Navy, served in Korean War and was the recipient of the Silver Star and a Purple Heart. He retired from the Westerman Company in Bremen, OH and he was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 2120 in Lancaster, OH. In his younger days he enjoyed hanging out with his "old cronies" and since retirement has loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Adam was preceded in death by his first grandchild Shelby Cottrell who gave him the name "Poppy", son-in-law Michael "Tank" Cottrell as well as his parents, Charles and Gertrude. Without a doubt his family is sure those we have lost welcomed him with open arms into the Heavens above. He was a gentle and kind man who had many friends and knew no enemies, and will be greatly missed by all of them.

Adam requested no public services to be held and his family has granted his wishes.
