Albert L. Allen

Albert L. Allen left this life on July 12, 2024, at age 79, born December 4, 1944 to Albert L. and Dorothy E. (Brown) Allen who preceded him in death.

Al is survived by his wife and the love of his life Graciela Allen (Ramos), son Scott C. Allen (Amanda), his daughter Cristina M. Brown (Daryl). Five grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Miles Allen; Noah, Nehemiah, Parker and Graciela Brown. 

Preceded in death by his daughter Anita in 2014. Al graduated from Eastmoor High School in 1962 and joined the US Navy from 1962 to 1966 serving as a high speed, morse code operator both on Guam and the USS St. Paul CA-73 during the Vietnam era. Later he was a Captain on the Columbus Fire Department from 1969 to 1996 when he retired. He was a life member of the FireFighters VFW Post 3426 and Ohio Gun Collectors. Al was in the first Fire Science graduating class from Columbus State Community College and went on to teach in that field for 12 years. He started a very successful mail order computer business in the 1980’s and wrote software and two books for the use of those computers. Al was a ham radio operator WB8ZAX (extra) since age 12 and is a silent key (SK) and still enjoyed many hobbies and interests.
