Alexander Carter

Alex (Alexander) Carter, of Columbus, Ohio, beloved son and brother, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 36 on May 12, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Carter and his grandmother, Deirdre Smith. He is survived by his mother, Christine Carter, his sister, Allison Carroll and her husband, Bryce, his aunts, Amy Crook and Elisa Smith, his grandfather and step grandmother, Hollis and Karen Smith and many friends.

He put himself through the University of Chicago, where he was able to spend a quarter studying in Paris, France, and to go on a study trip through several southwestern deserts in the United States. After graduation, he went to Stanford Law School where he earned his doctorate.

He enjoyed playing video games, making friends online, listening to music and writing letters in calligraphy to family and friends. He had a wonderful, quirky sense of humor and loved making others laugh.

He will be sorely missed.
