Alice Joan Powers, "Nicky", passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at New Albany Gardens and Care Center.
She is survived by children, Stephen Powers (Tina), Michael Powers (Gail), and Cheryl Marquez (Carlos); grandchildren, Nick and Julie Powers, Aaron and Bryan Powers, Violetta Marquez, step-grandchildren, Jason and Justin Marquez; great grandsons, Donovan and Bradley Powers, Tomas and Carlos Marquez; sister-in-law, Helen Nicola; friends, Jane Dodd-Weiner, Mary "Moppy" Koester, and Nona Avery of Sheffield England, Girl Scout Pen Pals since 1945.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Nicola and Hazel Curl Nicola, and brother, Ted Nicola.
Alice attended Ohio Wesleyan University and Ohio Dominican College.
She was a Homemaker, Counselor on Alcoholism, employee at Rutherford Funeral Home and was self-employed in Home Health Care, Mary Kay Cosmetics Sales.
Alice was fond of saying that what she was most proud of in her life were her children.
She volunteered in church and community activities, such as the Open Shelter.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, she loved to go to Crosley Field to cheer on the Reds.
Consequently, she requested her family attend a Reds game in her honor, which will be the summer of 2015.
A private family service will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Cincinnati.
