Alta Ruth Braughton

Alta R. Braughton (Moore) 77, passed away peacefully at her residence, with her family by her side on November 22, 2016. Survived by husband Ed of 59 years. Alta and Ed had four boys together, Ed, Jr (Juanita), John, Eric and Joel (Eva). She is also survived by two step daughters Sharon and Cynthia, that she raised from ages 4 and 3, 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, she also has two sisters Ann and Glenda and one brother James. Preceded in death by daughter-in-law Teresa Braughton. Alta was born in Nora, Virginia on April 19, 1939 to Bubby and Lillie Mae Moore. Alta moved to Columbus, OH in 1949, where she fell in love with Ed in 1956 and was married July 13. 1957. They traveled a lot and enjoyed camping and fishing with their children. She traveled with Ed when he drove race cars and also later, when he traveled playing in country and western bands. Alta did a lot of drawing and painting of pictures and was very successful at it.

Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd., Columbus, OH on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm.

Funeral service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11am with Pastor Dave Thomas officiating.

Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
