Ara "Sweet Pea" Williams was born on March 13, 1928 in Forest Mississippi to her late parents, Albert and Annie Jones. The family later moved to Tallahatchie County in Tippo, Mississippi.
Ara attended school in Sherman Hill/East Scott in Scott County Mississippi. She later graduated with her diploma from DuSable High School in Chicago.
She joined Galilee Church in Lake, MS and later attended St. Luke in Tippo, MS. She then moved up north to Chicago and became a Seventh Day Adventist.
Ara married Lee Vance who preceded her in death and later married Charles Williams who also preceded her in death.
Ara was always a sweet, kind, benevolent woman caring about people, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She loved and really enjoyed being with her family! Ara had a special connection with each of her children. She was an excellent cook and even though her health was declining, she didn't let it stop her from "helping" in the kitchen. Ara loved to sew, and made all her children's clothes when they were young. Viv was the only one of her children who carried on the talent to sew.
Ara and her two sisters, Martha Crowder and Bertha Jean Blakemore really had a solid loving relationship, an unbreakable link that could not be broken. She also had a unique closeness and love for all her many nieces and nephews.
Ara was 90 years od when she departed this life on March 24, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio. Ara had 13 siblings, 3 children (Bev, Donald and Renee) and 2 grandchildren (Donald and Albert) who preceded her in death.
