Barbara L. Johnson, age 92, passed away at home on Saturday, December 23, 2017. She was born in Ravenna, OH on December 21, 1925 to the late Robert and Corinthia Denton. She is preceded in death by her husband, Beryl Johnson and son, Danny Johnson. Barbara is survived by her children, Marty (Paula) Johnson, Rick Johnson, and Cheryl (Jeff) Prichard.
Barbara loved her family and was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Garrett (Kristyl) Johnson and their two daughters, Haley and Hannah; Bryant Johnson; Melissa (James) Wardrup with their two boys, Brayden and Zander; Brandon and Cameron Prichard; Alex Johnson. Barbara loved to teach her grandchildren new things. One thing that was unique about mother was that she was able to say the alphabet backwards up until her last days. This was something that she had taught herself to occupy time when she was sick in the 4th grade.
Amongst the many talents of Barbara were sewing, crocheting, quilting, teaching, and baking. If she wasn't working on a project, you might find her reading which she always loved! Barbara enjoyed learning new things, regardless of her age. She believed if you truly wanted to better yourself, you would always find a way! Anyone who knew our mother, understood 4 things immediately about her. Mother always put God first, Family second, Country third, and The Buckeye football games were never to be interrupted….EVER!!!
Barbara was a great friend to all! She shared if there was a need, would help collect for a cause, and was the best listener ever! If you asked her for advice, you would always receive a positive, loving response. Mother learned over the years that you never stopped studying the Bible and to always build upon your relationship with God. She worked along the side of our Dad, supporting him as a faithful Elder's wife for many years. What a wonderful mother to have. She had strong faith. Her love for others was continuous. Her joy for life was never ending!
Mother worked for many years outside the home, but her favorite job was at Bieghtler Armory as a secretary. She was able to make new friends from the soldiers who would be processed through the ranks in the National Guard.
We share with you, our family and friends, a woman who loved her husband dearly, disciplined her children consistently, and feared the Lord always!
If you knew our mother, then you have been blessed and will rejoice with the family in our celebration of her life!
A journey that began on May 17, 2015, and advised by the medical field, that it would end in a few days or weeks, has lasted over 2 ½ yrs. Our mother was not done teaching her children. Through many obstacles, our mother not only overcame, she conquered! She was given a great mind and had made the most of her situation. Her body though, was her worse enemy. During this time our mother taught us not to put our trust in others, but, to always trust in God as He will lead you through.
Our many thanks go out to Mt. Carmel Hospice staffing, and to Dr Koval. This would have been a difficult task without the direction, advice, and loving care that was given so freely. I would like to give personal thanks to my husband/Jeff, for allowing me to stay home with mother, while the weight of the world rested on your shoulders, you are loved so deeply! Our sons, Brandon and Cameron, thank you for assisting in the care of your mamaw, you are awesome young men! Special friends, Karen Martin, Beth Van Houten, Emily Gallagher, I will never be able to repay your kindness. Our wonderful church family, elders, and ministers, Robin Weier and Todd Truax, we are deeply grateful! My list is long and my heart overflows, for those who prayed, sent cards, visited, prepared meals, sang, and made phone calls! Thank you! Last, but not least are my 2 brothers and sister-in-love. When I was tired you visited, when I was down, you lifted me up and gave me strength. I am so glad you are my brothers! My sweet sister-in-love, thank you for sharing, caring, and loving me, how great you are! To anyone who is wondering, a journey of this magnitude, should never be attempted without the love and support of our Lord and Saviour Jesus, He might have some great plans for you.
