Basil G. Nimmo, born 1914, lived a hardy 100 years until he moved on quickly and gracefully this first Sunday in December, 2014. Everyone will remember Basil's continuous hospitality, generous with his customary, "Come on in!" whenever you arrived. He picked at and played the banjo, sang funny songs with friends, spun years of colloquially eloquent jokes and with great talent facilitated a peaceful social environment. It's no wonder at all that Basil enjoyed the company of close, caring friends and family throughout his life, and well into his final days at his own Grove City, Ohio home.
Preceded departures were his wife, Kathleen, and his youngest son, James, his sisters Ulma and Crystalee, and his parents, Wyatt and Della Mae. Survived by and greatly missing Basil are his eldest son, Fred, Susan, five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. His closest friends and caregivers celebrate a particular joy from their daily experience with Basil over these past few years, and bear intense sadness for their loss. Mark and Darlene Kiner, Shannon Sankey, Kathy Horn, Pam Steele, Darla Kiner-Hawkins and Marybeth Beatty will appreciate the venerated connection and time well spent with Basil Nimmo.
