Benjamin Paul Spitler, age 81, passed away at Valley View Care Center on March 9th, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Spitler (married 46 years), parents Ira and Hazel Spitler and siblings Jean Smith, Billie Stouffer and Daniel Spitler. Surviving family includes children, Ben (Kelly) Spitler, Jeff (Kelly) Spitler, Lori (David) Rowland, Buffey Curtis, great-niece, Destiny Paige Bailey, grandchildren, James Curtis, Rebekah (Andy) Ernest, Abigail (Jared) Spitler, Joel Spitler, Jonathan (Faviola) Spitler, Bethany (Eric) De Los Santos, Peter Spitler, Katie (Kyle) White, Joshua Rowland, great-grandchildren, Evelyn Rose De Los Santos, Nathan and Elizabeth Spitler, siblings, Betty Jane (William) Dyke.
Ben retired from OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital where he worked as a security officer. He had a special compassion for people and went out of his way to help others. Throughout his life, Ben brought joy to others with his great sense of humor and positive outlook on life. The family would like to thank the staff at Valley View Care Center and to Heartland Hospice for the excellent care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Heartland Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 10-11am, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH, where a funeral service will begin at 11am. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, OH.
