Our friend, cousin, nephew and “brother” Bennie Andrews transitioned September 16, 2025. Bennie Levy Andrews III began his journey in Columbus, Ohio on January 14, 1962, born to Bennie L. Andrews Jr. and Carolyn (Napper) Andrews. Durning his time with us, Bennie had friendships with many that grew from his childhood and college days as well as the spaces where he worked.
Bennie’s educational journey began at Pope John XXIII, then onto St. John’s, St. Dominic and Holy Rosary. He was a graduate of St. Charles High School (Columbus) and Antioch College (Yellow Springs), earning a degree in Bachelor of Arts Journalism and Political Science.
Along this journey, Bennie developed pursuits in variety of hobbies and passions that reveled his broad interests in life: most genres of music (except country), an avid fan of tennis, photography, news, politics, writing short stories and poetry. Always a purveyor of sage advice, Bennie was widely known for his poignant, insightful day ending Facebook posts that always garnered comments of appreciation.
Professionally, Bennie was legendary for customer service. In April 1993, he was invited by Paul Moss to move to Tennessee where he became the Guest Services’ Manager at The Tennessee Aquarium/IMAX 3D Theater in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was there he met his soul mate and life friend Andrea Mulkey.
Bennie had more than 20 years of customer service management, staff management and professional development during his tenures in the hospitality industry in Chattanooga, Albany, New York and Columbus. Bennie was legendary for his customer service. He received several awards for great hospitality and customer service.
He was a Godfather to Cameron Lowery and an uncle to Pen Harshaw as well as many others. Bennie will be missed by his aunt Gloria Napper, cousins Stephanie (Napper) Porter, Carla Napper and Steven Napper, Dolores (Ransom) Harshaw and Denise Ransom who called him a brother, his best friend Andrea Mulkey and his lifelong friend Rinni Lowery. Bennie will be missed by a host of numerous friends who shared his journey on this earth. All will miss his wit and laughter. But remember the gentle soul he was.
Bennie will be laid to rest with his father, mother and brother Bryan at Forrest Lawn Cemetery.
