In loving memory of Bertha (Betsy) Perret , 86, who passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019. Born in Jakarta, Indonesia she emigrated to the United States in 1959 with her husband and family. Her initial years were spent in Derby, NY living with the Piarist Fathers community. Soon after, she settled with her family in Buffalo, New York where she honed her craft and career as a chef. As Head Chef at Calasanctius Prep School, she was responsible for preparing lunch for students and faculty, and dinner for the school's Piarist community. She also developed into a gourmet chef by preparing the menus and dinners for the many formal school fundraisers such as the quarterly wine tastings and the annual Piarist Ball gala. Thru the years she earned awards and recognitions becoming well known in the Buffalo cooking scene. Betsy continued her career as Executive Chef at several well known Buffalo area restaurants. She was loved by the Calasanctius community and by all whose lives she touched in the Buffalo community. Approaching retirement, she relocated to Columbus settling closer to where her children were living. She was a beautiful person who was devoted to her family and faith. She will be sadly missed. Betsy was pre deceased by her beloved husband William. Betsy is survived by her sons John Perret and his wife Cheryl of Columbus, Rick Perret and his wife Lisa of Fairfield, Connecticut; her daughter Marianne Perret of Columbus; grandsons William Perret and Richard Perret; and great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 2-5 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd, Columbus, OH.
A brief service will take place on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home.
Interment will directly follow at the Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 N. High Street.
