Berwyn Allen Bragg, 87, born in Shadyside, Ohio October 25, 1928 to Charles and Alice Bragg. Passed away into the arms of Jesus on May 14, 2016. He was preceded in death by son, A. "Rodney" Bragg.
Berwyn is survived by wife of 66 years, Joan (Allwine); children, Gordon (Shelia) Bragg, Jane (Kevin) Koehl, and Delores Ward; grandchildren, John (Amy), Jason, David, Melissa (Dennis), Langdon, Kolin (Madison), and Allison; great-grandchildren Zachery, Loren, and Mckenzie.
Berwyn received a Purple Heart while serving with the Marine Corp in the Pacific during World War II. He had the rank of Sergeant in the 6th Expeditionary Brigade USMC, the company that befriended the Chinese boy, Tsui Chi Hsii-better known by his American name, Charlie Two Shoes, and was instrumental in bringing him and his family to the U.S. He was a life time member of the China Marines Association, and a life member of V.F.W. post 7941 and Military Order of the Cootie, South Bloomfield, Ohio.
Served as a Chaplain and ministered at Chillicothe Veterans Hospital. Worked at Columbus Showcase Co. for over 40 years. Berwyn loved God, his family and his country. He attended Immanuel Baptist Church.
Visitation Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 10am until the time of Funeral Service at 12pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Interment to follow at Alton Cemetery, Galloway, OH.
