Bettie "Mama" Daum Sharrock, age 94 of Westerville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends Sunday, November 26, 2017.
Born in Marion, Ohio, she married Forest "Treeze" Sharrock in 1943. They moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1951.
Bettie & Treeze had 3 children: Kirk (Beth) Sharrock, Stephen (Trisha) Sharrock and Leslie (Michael) Marter.
Incredibly, while her children were still young, Bettie earned her Bachelor's in Education from Ohio State in 1962. She retired after 25 years of dedicated service to Columbus Public Schools.
After her husband Treeze passed away in 1997, she proudly continued as the Matriarch of the St. Francis DeSales athletic family by attending games, events and ceremonies for several decades.
Her adventurous spirit led her to regularly drive cross country, travel the world and climb an Alaskan glacier at the age of 77. She loved to golf, canoe, camp, kayak and dance.
Bettie was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend who enriched the lives of everyone she touched. She is survived by her three grown children, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Special thanks to Linda Vollmer, Kathy Boyer, Carol Bajorek & Ron & Sally Bourne, who visited Bettie on a regular basis at Parkside Village, and brought her so much love, support & laughter.
Words cannot express our gratitude to the entire staff of Parkside Village and The Glen in Westerville for their compassion, professionalism & excellent care, and to Capital City Hospice for their loving care.
There will be a private family memorial.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project (woundedwarriorsproject.org), in Bettie Sharrock's name.
