Betty J. Flaherty, 80, passed away after a short illness at her home on Saturday, February 8, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born in Rainelle, WV on June 23, 1933, to Homer and Gladys (Huffman) Hanson and is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Flaherty; daughter, Carol "Jean" McDonald; great-granddaughter, Gina Baker.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Ray and Sandy Senn; sisters, Shirley (Francis) Beal and Emma (Ray) Byer; brothers, Homer, Harold (Betty) and Jerry Hanson; grandchildren, Roy Spencer, James (Monica) Spencer, Margery Marshall; Donna (Henry) Sprouse, Tom (Amber) McDonald, Mike (Trish) Thompson, Chris Thompson, Brandi (Brett) Lessig, 17 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends and neighbors.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, February 13, 2014, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM.
Interment will follow at Blendon Central Cemetery, Westerville, OH.
